achieving ISO standards

Achieving ISO Standards

We have all heard of ISO standards and realise it communicates something official and clearly very important, but what does it actually mean to consumers like me and you? For buyers of products and services on an everyday basis, here is ISO debunked.

the aim of ISO

Have you ever been let down because something you bought or a service you used, failed to meet your expectations? Well, the aim of ISO is to reduce the possibility of that happening by encouraging businesses to accurately asses and look to improve their procedures and standards across the board. Assessment of all important aspects of a business through every level of staff, encourages businesses large and small, to be more productive, creative, and above all provide guarantees and confidence to consumers. Basically, in a nut shell, it prevents businesses making claims they can’t live up to.

Interesting facts you probably didn’t know about ISO:

  • ISO is a a non-governmental organisation, but independently run.

  • The headquarters are in Switzerland and ISO operates in 163 countries.

  • It is in an international standard meaning we can have the same confidence when buying products and services which originate from abroad if the company also bears the ISO 9001 certification.

  • ISO covers almost every industry meaning we don’t need to look far to find a product we can have confidence in.
