COVID-19 health & safety

Our COVID-19 health and safety policy outlined

for effective cleaning and sanitising of workplaces

We have busy times ahead and the safety of our staff and customers is at the forefront of everything we do. Much of our work is now centred around the infection control, cleaning and sanitisation of workplaces and business premises. But what does this actually involve and what changes have we implemented in order to step up to this new, unfounded challenge?

Cleaning Chemicals

Firstly, standard cleaning chemicals are now replaced with contact sanitisers which are known to be highly effective against bacteria and viruses. All hard surfaces are treated including all wall and floor coverings and frequently touched or handled items and areas. We have implemented a highly organised system of cleaning which uses colour coded cleaning cloths and mops, in order to identify how each item has been used and then how it should be disposed of.

Personal Protective Equipment

Our staff are trained to use appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) such as gloves, aprons, coveralls and even 'hazmat' suits for those extreme cases where contamination is known. These are then disposed of safely to prevent ongoing transmission of infection.

Rubbish

Waste is a serious issue in preventing contamination. For this reason, we have a strict waste policy where all waste is bagged and labelled according to its source, and where necessary locked away to prevent the general public accessing it. It is then disposed of safely.

Did we mention hand cleaning?

While at work we have implemented the '5 moments' approach to hand cleaning. Why? Because it was developed by the World Health Organisation for workers in healthcare environments, and it prevents germs from being transmitted from one environment to another and therefore spreading infection. We have adapted this approach for our work in office and commercial environments. The table below outlines specifically the 5 most important occasions when hand cleaning is done by our operatives and explains the reason why.

On arrival to the workplace

To remove any harmful germs that may have been brought into the building

Before cleaning each specific area

To prevent contamination between environments

After exposure risk

To protect yourself, others and prevent further contamination

After contact with people within an infected environment

To protect yourself, others and prevent further contamination

Upon completion of duties

To protect yourself, others and prevent further contamination

What can you do to help?

Please remove all personal belongings prior to any cleaning and sanitising work. Removal of any clutter speeds up the cleaning process and enables us to better provide an effective cleaning and sanitising service.

Appreciation

Lastly but definitely not least, we would like to say a huge “thank you!” to our staff who are on the front line of the corona virus pandemic and continue to work diligently to ensure our safety.
